She is currently running for office as a candidate for the Collier County Board of County Commissioners (District 4).

J. Dudley Goodlette, Esq.
2014 Champion of Justice Award

This year’s 2014 Champion of Justice Award will be presented to J. Dudley Goodlette. Mr. Goodlette has been a champion in support of the mission of Legal Aid for many years.

As Representative for Naples, Marco Island and Everglades City in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006, Mr. Goodlette – amongst his many accomplishments as a legislator – was a strong proponent of the Civil Legal Assistance Act, which was designed to promote family stability and provided funding to victims of domestic violence, elder and child abuse, benefits for veterans, and other critical legal services. Dudley supported Legal Aid as a spokesman for Legal Aid Service of Collier County’s 2008 annual campaign (“Be a Hero”), and served as Honorary Chairman of the 2013 Barrister’s Bash.

Mr. Goodlette served as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from 2009 to 2011, and in August of 2012 he concluded a seven month term as Interim President of Edison State College in Southwest Florida. Mr. Goodlette is currently the Incoming Chairman of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Margaret L. McMorrow, Esq.
2014 Hon. Janeice T. Martin Equal Justice Award

Margaret McMorrow, Esq., has been selected to receive the Hon. Janeice T. Martin Equal Justice Award – the highest distinction conferred by Legal Aid Service of Collier County (LASCC). This award, first given to Judge Martin in 2008 prior to her joining the bench, is not an annual award, but can be viewed as Legal Aid’s version of a ‘lifetime achievement award’ for supporting the provision of free legal services to the underprivileged in Collier County. The award was subsequently named after Judge Martin.

Margaret has served on LASCC’s Advisory Board since 2009 and on the Board of Directors since 2012. She has been a dedicated fundraiser for LASCC – particularly concerning the Barrister’s Bash event, where she has served for years as a Steering Committee Member, Silent Auction Donor, and Patron. Margaret and her husband Roger have made generous financial donations to Legal Aid – as have their firms. She also regularly volunteers for LASCC’s Annual ‘Adopt a Family’ Holiday Gift program, and is an annual donor to the needy families served through this event. Ms. McMorrow is a Past President of the Collier County Bar Association, and works for Northern Trust, N.A. in Bonita Springs. She remains active in the local bar, and has served on the Board of Directors of several other area non-profit organizations.

It is our privilege and great honor to present her with our highest award for her outstanding service to our organization and the cause of equal justice.
