1. Immigration Attorney

Legal Aid Service of Collier County, Inc. has an opening for a full-time staff attorney in our Immigration Law Unit. The attorney will handle a variety of immigration cases, including deportation defense and detention work, and family-based and humanitarian-based immigration benefits. In addition to providing legal services to clients before the Immigration Court and USCIS, the attorney will be responsible for hosting regular community Know Your Rights presentations and other outreach and education events in Collier County.

The applicant must be a member of the Florida Bar. The ideal candidate will have 1- 3 years of experience in immigration law. Position requires excellent oral and written advocacy skills, a willingness to be an aggressive advocate for our indigent client population and willingness to travel between Naples and Immokalee. Bilingual applicants preferred.

2. Family Law Paralegal

Legal Aid Service of Collier County has an immediate opening for a family law paralegal in the Children’s Unit. In the capacity of paralegal, the successful candidate will primarily provide support for the attorneys in the Children’s Unit as they assist both adult and juvenile clients in dependency, education, guardian advocacy, paternity, dissolution of marriage, temporary custody, injunctions for protection, and other family matters. This position is an ideal opportunity for recent college graduates interested in a career in law, public policy, or social work. Applicants must be prepared to assist in handling a high volume of cases and to interact with a diverse client population in a sensitive and professional manner. Applicants must have excellent analytical skills so as to assess whether clients are eligible for various benefits. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong commitment to public service and have excellent communication and computer abilities.     Position Description

    The administrative assistant helps to ensure efficient delivery of client services and harmonious maintenance of internal operations at Legal Aid Service of Collier County, Inc. The Administrative Assistant answers to and works under the direct supervision of the Deputy Executive Director. The Administrative Assistant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to administrative support, staff and facilities support, case management support, and grant compliance support.

    Qualifications

    • Five years of experience in office administration or management.
    • Associate degree or higher.
    • Preference for applicants who are fully fluent in English and Spanish.
    • Demonstrated capacity to exhibit sensitivity to clients.
    • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute and successfully pass a secretarial skill test.
    • Knowledge of basic professional letter formatting.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook.
    • Demonstrated ability and willingness to interact with community members in a professional, efficient, and compassionate manner.

    Salary and Benefits

    This full-time non-exempt position with annual salary starting at $40,000.00. LASCC offers a generous benefits package that includes health, vision, dental, and life insurance (for the employee), retirement, paid holidays, and generous annual and sick leave allotments starting at 15 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave per year—good work-life balance.

      4. Children and Family Law Attorney

      Legal Aid Service of Collier County, Inc. has an opening for a staff attorney in our Children’s Law Unit. The attorney will represent children who have been victims of, or are at risk of, abuse, abandonment, or neglect and their non-offending parent in family law matters. The attorney will also represent children who are already in the foster care system. The services include legal advice, brief service, and/or extended representation.

      Aside from direct representation, the Staff Attorney position requires preparing and delivering client training and other community education; conducting intake and outreach; appearing in administrative and judicial forums; active bar participation; and special legal and community projects.

      Qualifications

      · Member in good standing of the Florida Bar Association;

      · Experience serving low-income individuals, victims of crime, veterans, or other marginalized communities preferred but not required;

      · A demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve;

      · Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment;

      · Strong organizational and time management skills;

      · Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners;

      · excellent written and communication skills;

      · ability to work constructively with others;

      · The ability to speak more than one language is a plus.
