Low-income Taxpayer Clinic
Legal Aid Service of Collier County’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) assists low income individuals in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service in amounts up to $50,000. Our attorneys provide a wide range of services, including audits, appeals, collection matters, and federal tax litigation. Legal Aid’s LITC can also help taxpayers respond to IRS notices and correct account problems. Our LITC also provides several educational outreach opportunities for low income taxpayers and taxpayers who speak English as a second language (ESL) about their taxpayer rights and responsibilities.
Like all of Legal Aid’s services, our LITC is free for eligible taxpayers who meet our income guidlines. The LITC is independent from the IRS, but receives some of its funding from the IRS through the LITC grant program. All telephone conversations and client discussions are confidential.

Applicants to the LITC should obtain current income records such as pay stubs, receipts or W-2′s, all letters, notices, bills or correspondence from the IRS, a copy of the tax return in controversy, copies of prior-year tax returns (if available), and any other documents that pertain to your tax disagreement.
